IUD INSERTION INFOGRAPHIC
Project Type Self-Directed Project for University of Dundee’s MSc Medical Art Program
Media Vector Illustrations
Software Adobe Illustrator
Audience Patients
This was a completely self-directed project, with the aim of patient education. Over the years I have become aware of how little easily accessible information on the entire IUD insertion process there is and therefore wanted to fill this gap with an interactive illustration of this. Because the tenaculum can be the most painful part of the procedure, I felt that this needed to be included in patient education so that those who choose to get an IUD know exactly what it happening and what to expect. I also chose to include pain management options at the end so that patients know they have options if they are concerned about the pain of the procedure.
I started with planning out each slide, then creating all of the illustrations in Adobe Illustrator. Next, I used a program called Genially that allowed me to make the slides interactive and animated.
